CLO #3: Recognize and practice key rhetorical terms and strategies when engaged in writing situations.
Beginning me college career, I had no idea that specific rhetorical terms existed in the development of writing pieces, but throughout the semester I was granted the opportunity to recognize and practice some key rhetorical terms and strategies that I became familiar with over a few months of the course. As I mentioned in my achievement of Course Learning Outcome # 2, I was involved in peer review sessions, that were mainly to recognize how we used the rhetorical elements in our writing situations, which expressly allowed for the practice of the rhetorical elements. Also, the reflection papers helped me to achieve this outcome, as each major assignment required a final reflection piece. As the assignments grew in difficulty, the longer my reflection pieces also became, as I had to recognize the difficulty of the intricacy and connections between each assignments’ rhetorical elements and how each has changed between different writing strategies. This shows how my understood of each rhetorical element has grown since the last assignment. Professor Carr said that mastering reflection papers takes a while for most, so even though I am comfortable in how I organize mine at the moment, I think that there is also still room for improvement.
Below is a post I made on the open discussion board, my own interpretations of some rhetorical elements over some time after practicing them in some writing strategies
