Genre

Genre is another rhetorical element where an author chooses the type of writing to deliver their message in. These forms of writing can be essays, a research article, poems, letters, documents or narratives. Different ways of conveying information through the different forms, are through persuasion, informing and to entertain. Identifying a genre, helps in developing the key elements and features of what you want to write and also a way ensure that your targeted audience is attracted to your work.

Throughout the semester I explored the different forms and ways of conveying my writing: From letter writing (inform), expository writing (inform) and argumentative writing (persuasion). The main point of the assignments was to fundamentally get a clear understanding of how each are entirely separate, and that each has key features and requirements that it must have to accomplish its goal. The expository essay insisted that I stayed neutral in my research and writing, but I should simultaneously keep in mind that I am also writing this essay in order to be bias in the upcoming argumentative assignment.
